Missions

Family Missions International

Family Missions International is an outreach to the people of the island of Mindoro in the Philippines.  David and Mitzu Grubbs (and their daughter, Natalie), members of our parish, travel twice a year to Mindoro to distribute school supplies to children and assist the people of Mindoro as possible.

Charities
"Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of God is this...to care for orphans and widows in their distress..." (James 1:27)

Project Mexico

Project Mexico is an outreach which involves Orthodox young people in the alleviation of suffering by building homes for Mexico's poor. Thousands of teens and young
adults from all jurisdictions across the United States and Europe have participated.

Project Mexico also includes St. Innocent Orphanage and Mission Church in Tijuana, Mexico. This facility serves as a base for homebuilding trips and as a center from which evangelistic outreach can be conducted into neighboring communities.
St. Innocent Orphanage provides a home for young teenage boys who otherwise would be forced to live on the streets. This is the only facility in all of Tijuana which focuses on orphaned and abused teenage boys.

International Orthodox Christian Charities

IOCC, in the spirit of Christ’s love, offers emergency relief and development programs to those in need worldwide, without discrimination, and strengthens the capacity of the Orthodox Church to so respond.

Hogar Rafael Ayau Orphanage

Located in Guatemala City, Guatemala, the orphanage provides a home for orphans and under-privileged children received from birth to 7 years of age. The children stay until they reach 18 years of age or even older if they wish to stay until they finish college or establish their own families. Financial assistance provided by the Friends of the Hogar Rafael Ayau, NFP helps to fund adequate shelter, food, health care, educational, work-study, recreational and spiritual opportunities for the children. This enables them to live a full life in the safety of the orphanage as they prepare to be adopted by loving families or grow into adulthood and set out to live full and meaningful lives on their own.

Orthodox Christian Prison Ministry

The goal of OCPM is to bring the love of Christ to those who are in prison by providing encouragement, material support, transition and reintegration services, Christian education, spiritual guidance and the sacramental life of the Church.

Monastic Communities
Orthodox Christians place a special value on the monastic life and treasure the relationships between a parish and monastic communities. Our monasteries provide places of spiritual refuge and solace. All are invited to make pilgrimages to local monasteries for times of quiet, prayer and community worship.

Holy Assumption Monastery, Calistoga, CA
A women's monastic community in nearby Napa County. The monastery's center of worship is a reproduction of the historic chapel at Fort Ross.

Holy Cross Monastery, Castro Valley, CA
A local men's monastic community. We often worship together with the monks of Holy Cross and participate at events at the monastery.

Monastery of St. John of Shanghai, Manton, CA

A special connection exists between St. Innocent parish and the Monastery of St. John: Fr. Sebastian (Carey), a tonsured monastic in the community came from our parish. There are many visits between our parish and the monastery.
